Tech Support for Weekly Planner

If you are experiencing problems with the We Believe Test Generator:
  1. For setup, getting started, or instructions on how to use the Test Generator, your first step should be to consult the Manual. This can be found on and accessed from your We Believe Test Generator CD.
    1. Insert the disk into your CD-ROM drive. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and double-click the CD-ROM icon to view the contents of the CD.
    2. Locate and open the Exam View folder. Double-click the Manual icon to bring it up on your screen. You can then read the Manual on screen or print it for easy reference.

      (Note: In order to access the manual, your computer must be equipped with an updated version of Adobe® Reader®. If you do not have this program installed, you can download it for free by clicking here and following the instructions).

    3. You may also access the We Believe Test Generator Manual online by clicking here. (This download may take a long time for users with slow connections. It is recommended that users open the Manual from the CD.)

  2. If you want an easy-to-follow introduction on how to use the Test Generator, you can take the Multimedia Tour. This can be found on and accessed from your We Believe Test Generator CD.
    1. Insert the disk into your CD-ROM drive. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and double-click the CD-ROM icon to view the contents of the CD.
    2. Locate and open the Exam View folder, then open the Tour folder. Double-click the evtour icon to open and play the tour. Make sure that you have sound enabled on your computer because the tour is narrated. Just follow the spoken or onscreen prompts to learn about ExamView.You can then read the Manual on screen or print it for easy reference.

      (Note: In order to access the tour, your computer must be equipped with an updated version of Flash Player®. If you do not have this program installed, you can download it for free by clicking here and following the instructions).

    3. You may also access the Multimedia Tour online by clicking here.

  3. Once ExamView is installed you can take advantage of the extensive Help menu that is part of the program. Just click the Help button on the top menu to learn how to become adept at using all of ExamView's many features.

FAQ's

How do I make a test based on a chapter rather than a Unit?
  1. From the Exam View Startup menu, select "Create a new test," or select it by pulling down the File menu on your toolbar and clicking on "New Test."

  2. When prompted, type in a title for your new Test, such as "Unit 1, Chapter 1 test." Click the OK button.

  3. You should now see the Select Question Bank menu. Locate and open the folder for the appropriate We Believe grade level, then choose the Unit that corresponds to the chapter you want to base your test on. For example, if you want to make a test on Chapter 12, you should select the Unit 2 Question Bank.

  4. Your blank test page should now be on the screen with the title (highlighted in yellow), on the top. Pull down the Select menu on your toolbar by left clicking on it. You now have a number of options as to how you would like to build this test:

    • If you left click on From a List, you will be given a list of type and chapter for each question in the unit. Scroll down the list and check the chapter level questions you wish to use by clicking on the box to the left of each question. When you have selected the questions you want, you may click OK. Your test will now be generated for you.

    • If you left click on While Viewing, you will be shown the text of every question in the Unit's Question Bank, including the answer, the chapter reference, and whether the question appears in the student text or is has been newly created for this program. Again, you may select the chapter level questions you want to use from this list by clicking on the box to the left of each question. When you have selected the questions you want, you may click OK. Your test will now be generated for you.

    • If you click on By Criteria, you will be asked to reselect the Unit Question Bank you want to use. Highlight the appropriate Question Bank(s) by clicking on it and then clicking on the Select button. When you have selected all the Question Banks you want, click on the Next button.

      You will now be asked to enter the criteria you want the generator to use as it selects questions for you. A line to the right of the Select field indicates how many questions are available in the Bank(s) that meet your criteria. You may:

      • Specify a question type, such as multiple choice, completion, and so on.
      • Identify the questions for a specific chapter. To do this, click on the info to the right of the Reference field. Select the appropriate chapter.
      • Identify whether you want a new question or a question that appears in the We Believe text. To do this, click on the info [show I icon] to the right of the Miscellaneous field. Select the appropriate choice.

      When you have chosen all your criteria, input the number of questions that you want into the Select field (the number of questions available to you are shown at the right of the field. Then click the Select button.

      You can continue change the criteria and add questions to your test. When you are finished selecting questions, click the Done button. Your test will now be generated for you.


How Do I Make the Font Size on My Tests Bigger or Smaller?
If you want to change the font size of an entire test:
  1. Open the test you wish to change the font size on.
  2. Pull down the Edit menu on your toolbar.
  3. From the menu, select Replace Font.
  4. The Replace Font window will appear on your screen. In the Find What field, select "All Fonts" from the pull-down menu. Then, by using the up arrow on the top Size box, make sure the number 11 appears.
  5. On the Replace With field, select "Same Font" from the pull-down menu. Then, by using the up or down arrows on the bottom Size box, select how big or small you want the font on your test to be.
  6. Click on the Replace All button.
  7. You will see that the font size for your entire test has changed.
If you want to change the font size for just a portion of your test:
  1. Open the test you wish to change the font size on.
  2. Using your mouse, place the cursor over the section you wish to change the font size on, left click.
  3. The row that the cursor was on should now be highlighted.
  4. Click on the Edit button on the bottom left of your screen.
  5. The edit box will now appear on the screen with the highlighted section inside.
  6. On the toolbar of the edit box, you will see the type of font (default: Times New Roman), and the size (default: 11).
  7. Highlight the words you wish to change the font on, by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor over the words.
  8. From the pull-down font size menu, select the how big you want the new font to be. The highlighted words should now change size.
  9. Once you have the correct size, left click on the Record button on the bottom left of the edit box.
  10. Repeat steps 2-9 for each individual section you wish to change the font size on.
