My family loves to pray around our Christmas tree.

Marrero, Louisiana

We help each other out and we eat, play and read together as a family. We love each other and our friends as well. We learn to be good and listen to our parents.

Everynight I say my prayers to my Daddy before bed. I pray for all the people I love and I say special prayers for people I know that need help. I love my family and friends.

My family started this tradition about 12 years ago and continue it today....

During Christmas time, we receive about 100 Christmas cards from family, friends, work associates, and neighbors. We keep our Christmas cards in a basket, and throughout the year, each week we pick one card from the beginning of the basket and pray for that particular person, family or business. Perhaps the cards are done everyday or like us, a card will sit on our table during dinner, and stay for a couple of days.

I can't tell you how many times through the years, we have been praying over a certain card and low and behold, find out that person orfamily was in trouble or in the most need during that time. We pray also for newspaper boys, and even my husband or children if they give us a card, we pray for them. Once while having my husband's work associate over for dinner, the kids begged to pick a card, and not wanting to force this family to pray, we explained our custom.... this being June, they were curious as to why we still had our Christmas cards out....they loved it! And I might add, we do receive a Christmas card from them as well...

How often do you remember to pray for that great aunt or cousin that lives so far away? How often do you pray for the people you work with, or did a project with during PTA? This could be your family's solution....

We have secret prayer buddies in our family. We have four children under 10. Every few days, we place each family member's name on a separate index card. Then each of us chooses a card. We pray for our person named on the card and show extra love to that person for a couple of days. Then we write a love letter to our selected buddy telling all of the things we love and admire about them. After dinner on the 2nd night, we read our love letters to one another. It has kept our minds focused on the blessing we are to each other. It has also cut back tremendously on the amount of petty arguements within our home.

I AM FIVE YEARS OLD AND I HAVE ATTENDED CCD, SINCE I WAS THREE AND I LOVE IT! WE PRAY AS A FAMILY BEFORE ALL MEALS AND BEFORE BED EVERY NIGHT. THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS OUR DADDY READS US THE STORY OF JESUS'S BIRTH, BY THE CHRISTMAS TREE BY CANDLELIGHT. WE ALSO ATTEND MIDNIGHT MASS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR I CONTRIBUTE MY OWN EARNED MONEY TO UNDER-PRIVILEGED CHILDREN. I ALSO PURCHASED SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR CHILDREN WHOSE FAMILY COULDN'T AFFORD THEM. I ENJOY READING THE BIBLE THAT MY CHURCH GAVE ME DURING VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL THIS PAST SUMMER.
